Ultrasound is better at identifying lung pathology than the more utilized chest x-ray. With an understanding of lung ultrasound, diagnosis of many lung pathologies can be made earlier and with improved sensitivity and specificity compared to chest x-ray. Lung Ultrasound - Identifying B-lines Identifying interstitial lung (pulmonary) edema with ultrasound is a skill needed by anyone caring for a patient with shortness of breath. It is, however, the development from a more chronic problem. This is more common in male patients and is most often due to an enlarged prostate. This video is the review of an early definitive intrauterine pregnancy (IUP). A yolk sac is visible with in the gestational sac on transvaginal ultrasound. 1st Trimester Pregnancy Case 2 In this study, the patient had an intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) at 6 weeks 1 day with a fetal heart rate (FHR) of 121 with subchorionic hemorrhage. This patient only required a transabdominal ultrasound since the findings could be docuemented with out a transvaginal ultrasound. 1st Trimester Pregnancy Case 3 - Twin Gestation 6w5d In this case we review a patient who presented with vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain while pregnant in the first trimester. We see in this study that the patient had a twin gestation intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) at 6 weeks 5 days with subchorionic hemorrhage. In this case we review a patient who presented with vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain while pregnant in the first trimester. We see in this study that the patient had a tubal ring that was diagnostic of an ectopic pregnancy. 1st Trimester Pregnancy Case 4 - Ectopic Pregnancy 1st Trimester Pregnancy - Case 5 - Complex Adnexal Mass In this particular case the patient expects to be about 7 weeks pregnant but developed acute onset of pelvic pain. In the video we will see she had a complex right adnexal mass that with large amount of pelvic free fluid. These are very concerning findings in a pregnant patient and could represent a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Pregnancy of unknown location can be a diagnostic dilemma since this could represent a normal early pregnancy, miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy or even other pathologies. Mindful workup of these patients is necessary to not miss a life threatening ectopic pregnancy either on initial visit or when subsequent visits are needed. 1st Trimester Pregnancy Case 6 - Pregnancy Unknown Location
